 Distillation and fractionating of crudes, treatment of intermediates, meeting environmental restrictions and quality levels, finalizing blends with additives, polymerisation and plastics production are all attributed to the oil refining/petrochem industry. The vast majority of these processes involve some form of thermal processing. Much of this is accomplished through fired types of heating and steam systems. However, electric process heat is many times called upon to supplement processes, or to tackle jobs that are too difficult or uneconomical to do through other heating means.
